Forum Cat And Sub-Category Count Problem

0

"I'm pleased to inform you that I have successfully installed the Simple Forum on my domain. This is a great step forward. However, I've run into a minor issue that I'm hoping to resolve.

The issue lies with my sub-category titled 'Graduation Events.' I've created two articles under this sub-category. However, the sidebar, which displays a count of articles for each category and sub-category, is not reflecting these additions. Instead, it's showing '0' articles under 'Graduation Events.'

This discrepancy is confusing and could potentially mislead my forum users, making them believe that there are no articles under 'Graduation Events.' Therefore, I am looking for a solution to accurately update the article count in the sidebar.

For a clearer understanding of the issue, I've attached a screenshot. Any assistance on how to fix this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,

Please try to check your forum now. The side bar should be showing correct numbers.

The sidebar category menu and others are cached for 5 minutes. Means they will only update after 5 minutes. I will clear the cache on new post so that the data on side is up to date.

Thank you

Hello,

I appreciate your quick response. I have diligently checked my forum, but despite it being almost 24 hours since the supposed update, there seems to be no changes. The sidebar category menu and other elements are still displaying as 'zero', contrary to the expectation that these should update after a 5-minute cache period.

To provide a more accurate picture of what I'm experiencing, I've attached a screenshot for your reference. This should give you a clearer understanding of the issue at hand.

Could you please assist in rectifying this problem or provide further instructions on any steps I might be missing? I'm eager to resolve this matter as quickly as possible.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Hello!!!
I recently attempted to upgrade from "Simple Forum v2.0.0-beta.7" to "Simple Forum v2.0.0-beta.8". Unfortunately, I encountered an SQL error during the process, which seems to stem from an undefined 'group' column in the 'threads' table. The error details are as follows:
“SQLSTATE[42S22]: Column not found: 1054 Unknown column 'group' in 'where clause' (Connection: mysql, SQL: select count(*) as aggregate from threads where user_id = 1 and active = 1 and approved = 1 and (group is null or group = -1 or group = 0 or group = 1 or user_id = 1))”

To recover, I reverted back to the beta 7 version. Unfortunately, all the data inputted during my time on beta 8 was lost. As a result, I've had to re-input the data, which has been a disappointing and time-consuming task.
For the upgrade, I strictly followed the instructions provided in the "Simple Forum v2.0.0-beta.8" guide. As such, it's not immediately clear to me why this issue has occurred. It seems like the 'group' column may be a new introduction in beta 8, and perhaps it wasn't created during the upgrade process, or maybe a migration script failed to run correctly.
I kindly request your help in understanding the reason behind this issue, and what steps should be taken to resolve it. Additionally, if there's a way to recover the lost data or avoid such data losses in the future, your advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your time and help.

Hello,

  1. The install and update should be fixed in latest beta release v2.0.0-beta.10
  2. Your email config looks fine.
  3. Not sure why but please try the latest version and then we can check.
  4. I am not sure which icon uploads are you talking about. Please provide more details or screenshot.
  5. I have added the sitemap section in settings.

Thank you
